I love meeting creative people. They are magical.

But most can’t explain what they do in one sentence, and many have a hard time finding their audience.

If that’s you, it’s not because your work is unclear. You’re too close to it. It’s personal, and you can’t see it the way an editor or gallery sees it.

Connecting with the people who get you and want to support you means telling your story. That doesn’t mean becoming an influencer or changing who you are or what you do. It means finding your story and telling it, your way.

I believe that while we may not be able to stop AI from attempting to create “art,” it will never truly replicate a human heart. Art is how we see and hear each other. Algorithms flatten everything toward sameness. Work made by humans from lived experience will always be more valuable, especially when it connects with other humans. It stops you and asks for attention, for connection.

Outside Artists NYC is a New York City studio that exists to find that work and help tell its story. I work with artists, craftspeople, and institutions to develop their narrative and get it in front of the right people. Together we decide what works best for you:

  • Advising on and curating your portfolio
  • Organizing and mining your archives
  • Creating social media videos together
  • Producing a short film about you and your work
  • Mounting an exhibition or event to connect with your audience in real life
  • Placing a published article or preparing grant applications to build your CV

Then we get it in front of editors, art buyers, and gallerists, and turn them into believers.

CLAUDIA GRIMALDI MARKS

I am a producer, a curator, and a passionate fan and collector of art and imagery.   I have worked for over 30 years producing compelling stories about artists, social justice, and community. I share my expertise to support creatives and build their portfolios and their businesses.

I have met with and mentored hundreds of emerging and established artists.  I produced the groundbreaking Getty Images/ARRAY Grant partnership with Ava DuVernay's production company, from selecting the judging panel to shortlisting the finalists.  Through the Getty images annual creative grant program I focused on support for underrepresented photographers and filmmakers including one whose work was shortlisted for Academy Award consideration. We awarded $1.6+ million in grants to some of the most amazing work I have ever seen.  Throughout my career I have produced and managed international teams of photographers, videographers, and multimedia artists. I curated cultural programming including the 50th anniversary Stonewall grant and commemoration event and exhibitions at Photoville.

My work has been recognized with the LA Press Club National Entertainment Journalism Award and Society of Publication Designers Merit Awards. I was honored to have served as a juror for the 2025 Sony World Photography Awards and International Photography Awards among others.

As a lifelong New Yorker with deep roots and love for the city's cultural community.  I can help you find your story and tell it or help you find the next new talent to support.
